Liquid Rhinoplasty

If you are unhappy with the appearance of your nose but would like to avoid undergoing cosmetic surgery, you may be a candidate for liquid rhinoplasty. Liquid rhinoplasty is a nonsurgical procedure in which dermal fillers are injected into the tissue of your nose to reshape and improve it’s contour. A nonsurgical rhinoplasty does not replace traditional rhinoplasty but can be used to temporarily improve the appearance of your nose.

What Is Liquid Rhinoplasty used for?

In a liquid rhinoplasty procedure, a clinician injects hyaluronic fillers into different areas of the nose. The procedure can be used to smooth out bumps on the bridge of the nose, improve  symmetry and enhance the shape of the nose. Liquid rhinoplasty is not appropriate to treat breathing issues or to correct issues such as a deviated septum.

Why Aren’t Permanent Fillers Used?

Most dermal fillers used for liquid rhinoplasty procedures are hyaluronic fillers. This is because dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid are soft and produce a natural soft appearance and are less likely to cause complications. Examples of hyaluronic acid fillers that our clinician may use include Juvederm and Restylane. If you experience complications or are dissatisfied with your results, the hyaluronic acid can be safely dissolved with an injection of an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Permanent fillers like silicone are more likely to result in complications when used in nasal tissues and are generally not used for liquid rhinoplasty procedures.

What To Expect From Liquid Rhinoplasty

Since liquid rhinoplasty is not a surgical procedure, there is no need to undergo general anesthesia. The procedure is minimally invasive and can be performed in one office visit. Patients can expect to go home or back to work after their procedure. Any discomfort should be minimal and result in little to no downtime. After receiving liquid rhinoplasty, the results can be expected to last from 18 months to two years.
