Spider veins

Spider veins are those small clusters of red, blue, or purple veins that appear on the thighs, calves, and ankles. It is estimated that at least half of the adult female population is bothered by this common cosmetic problem. A number of factors may contribute to the development of spider veins in the legs, including heredity, pregnancy, hormonal shifts, weight gain, and occupations or activities that require prolonged sitting or standing. If you would like to eliminate your spider veins and improve your appearance, sclerotherapy is a very effective, safe and relatively painless method.

Sclerotherapy is a procedure in which the veins are injected with a sclerosing solution causing them to collapse and fade from view. The procedure is performed in the office with no anesthesia necessary. Most treatments can be completed in one session but additional treatments may be required for optimal results.

IPL for Facial Veins

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy uses a non-laser high-intensity source of light to treat facial spider veins, as well as a variety of other skin problems. When IPL is used to treat spider veins in the face, also known as telangiectasias, heat is generated within the vessel. This causes the walls of the vein to collapse on itself and stick together. Eventually, these veins will be reabsorbed by the body and fade away after several weeks. IPL in general affects the deeper structures with minimal damage to the surface of the skin. Multiple treatments may be necessary to treat resistant vessels and/or vessels that appear again.
