How Xeomin® works
A Xeomin® injection is a quick and convenient treatment that doesn’t require anesthesia. It works through its active ingredient Botulinum toxin type A. Xeomin® blocks facial nerve signals to relax muscles and prevent their contraction. By preventing the muscles from contracting, Xeomin® helps to temporarily minimize the frown lines between your eyes that have developed over years.
How long does Xeomin® last?
Results vary, but usually, last between 3-6 months. A touch-up treatment can enhance your results providing a long lasting effect.
When can I expect to see the results?
You might start seeing results as soon as three to four days after your treatment. You should see the maximum results within 30 days. You can expect the effect to last at least three months. There is no downtime and patients can return to their normal life right after the treatment.
What will happen during and after Xeomin® treatment?
Your treatment will last around 10 or 20 minutes. Xeomin® will be injected by your doctor into your forehead muscles, which make your frown lines appear between your eyebrows. While you do not need to undergo anesthesia, your doctor might apply a cold pack or a topical anesthetic to reduce discomfort.
Xeomin® vs. Botox®
Xeomin® and Botox® are two types of injectable neurotoxins (forms of botulinum toxin type A) that have been both approved by the FDA for minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. The main difference between Xeomin® and Botox® has to do with the formulation. Xeomin® contains just one ingredient: botulinum toxin A, while the formulation of Botox® includes several protective proteins, which allows the effects of Botox® to last slightly longer than Xeomin®. The benefit of Xeomin®’s pure-form means users have a lower chance of developing resistance (antibodies) that can limit its desired effects.
